Two Book Groups at ALP Library

There are two book discussion groups at the library -- one meets from September to May, and one meets in July and August.  

 

Why two groups?  They're a little bit different from each other...

The September - May group introduces a selection of books that covers different genres and authors.  You may attend as many discussions as you'd like;  if you'd like to attend digitally, Zoom links are available.

The July - August group reads four books chosen by a committee, and each book in the series follows a theme.  If possible, it's nice to attend all of the sessions and watch the theme develop and grow.  See schedule below.

Book List & Schedule

The theme for Fall's book discussion is banned and challenged books.

All discussions will take place at 3:30 in the afternoon on the scheduled day.

Oct 18th: "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" by Ken Kesey

Nov 20th: "The Color Purple" by Alice Walker

Dec 18th: "The Call of the Wild" by Jack London

Jan 15th: "Lady Chatterly's Lover" by D.H. Lawrence

Feb 19th: "Of Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck

Mar 19th: "A Clockwork Orange" by Anthony Burgess

Apr 16th: "Slaughterhouse Five" by Kurt Vonnegut

May 21st: "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald
