Book Discussion:

August 5

The Summer Book Discussions are taking place as scheduled this summer.  Time:  5:30 - 6:30pm

Theme: A Look South: 1860's to 1969

The group will meet in the newly-created meeting space in the back of the first floor.  Everyone will wear masks and social distance.  Anyone who would prefer to participate via a Zoom screen may do so; let the Librarian know and she will send you a Zoom invite.

Click Book Chat image above for more info.

Schedule

August 5 - The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson  (Set in 1930's Appalachia)

August 19 - The Water Is Wide by Pat Conroy (set in 1969 on a South Carolina island)

August 11      10:00 am
August 25     10:00 am

The ALP Library is thrilled to have been selected by The Maine Humanities Council to be one of 30 organizations statewide to participate in a new virtual reading group.

The theme is the Maine Bicentennial.  We'll meet here at the library, and listen to the MHC facilitator lead us through interesting discussions about the State of Maine as we explore the 200th anniversary of its statehood.

Visit or call the library for details!

Our most fun activity for children is back...two books, two locations!

During July, August, and September, read The Very Ugly Bug by Liz Pichon as you walk the trails of the Hinkle Preserve, and Miss Spider's Tea Party by David Kirk at the Narrows' trails.

We've collaborated with the Islesboro Island Trust to create two special adventures.  Follow the signs, read the stories on displays, and enjoy nature!

Zoom Story Times Have Begun!

This summer we're hosting virtual story times on Zoom -- every Wednesday until August 26 -- at 10am.  Please join us!
